DEMOLITION work in Blackburn town centre is continuing swiftly with a large part of Lord Square now reduced to rubble.
Bosses at the development project say that work is keeping to schedule.
An industrial "muncher" machine has already made short work of several buildings including the former Flying Haggis pub and large amounts of rubble is now being cleared before more demolition can take place.
The 15-week task of reducing the 1970s eyesore to rubble has been going for two weeks and has proved a popular sight for passers-by.
The owners of Lord Square, The Mall, have unveiled a £66m scheme for the site, with 20 new shops including a flagship Primark store and a new market.
The project is duet to be finished in spring.
Loraine Jones, general manager of the Mall Blackburn, said the development would 'change the face of retail' in the town.
More than 200 extra car parking spaces will be created.
