School staff and year 11 students have paid tribute to their classmate who died last month.

Adam Mohammad, a year 11 pupil at Blackburn Central High School, died on June 8.

In a leaver’s assembly for the class on Thursday (July 7), head of year Mr Chinery paid tribute to Adam.

He said: “On June 8 this year, we lost one of our own from the BCHS family.

“Adam was such a light and lovely boy, he was such a fantastic young man.

“We are going to do a memorial service for Adam in the near future.”

Mr Chinery then asked the pupils and staff to stand and give a round of applause to Adam.

After his death, Mrs Hussain, Headteacher said: “We are a close-knit school and this is also extremely upsetting for our whole school community.

“We will do all that we can to help and support young people and staff who will obviously be deeply affected by this saddest of news today and during the difficult days ahead.

“I want all students and staff to know that extensive support will be available from our own counsellors, and support is also being made available from Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council and IMO Charity.”

The assembly was held the day after the school's annual prom for Year 11 students to celebrate the end of their high school days.

Students were dressed to impress for the event, held at Foxfields, with some opting for luxurious supercars to arrive in style for the bash.
