Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust has been shortlisted seven times across six categories at this year's Nursing Times Awards for their outstanding contribution to nursing.
The awards bring together the nursing community to shine a light on the brightest talent in the profession and recognise those making nursing innovative, patient-focused and inclusive.
Following two of the toughest years in nursing, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust continues to champion quality nursing and safe patient centred care amidst the challenges that the health and social care sector is facing.
Maria Nelligan, Chief Nurse and Quality Officer at Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust said:
“We are thrilled to have been shortlisted seven times in the Nursing Times Awards. These awards really help shine a light on the person centred care our Nurses continue to deliver.
“We’re committed to improving outcomes for our patients, and to be chosen among the other incredible nominees is a wonderful achievement.”
Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust, who provide a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area, has been shortlisted in the following categories despite the tough competition from hundreds of applicants:
Team of the Year, Patient Safety Improvement, Nursing in Mental Health, Nurse Leader of the Year, the Ann Shuttleworth Rising Star Award and the HRH The Prince of Wales Award for Integrated Approaches to care.
Their Recovery Riders Project was shortlisted in four categories including the HRH The Prince of Wales Award. The project, driven by their mental health nurses, sees unclaimed bikes donated by Lancashire Police be used to facilitate weekly patient rides around the West Lancashire countryside in Ormskirk.
The Nursing Times judging panel is made up of a diverse range of highly influential and respected figures within the nursing community including from the Royal College of Nursing and the Queen’s Nursing Institute.
Nelligan continued: “These nominations have been a tremendous boost to our nurses and colleagues at Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust and I am sure it will bolster our continued efforts to improve our quality care.”
