A PACK of dinosaurs will be roaming a town centre in East Lancashire during the summer school holidays in a few weeks' time.

The nine prehistoric beasts are heading for Burnley, and will feature in a special dinosaur trail making the town centre feel more like Jurassic World.

They will be in areas including the bus station, Burnley Market, Financial Affairs, Ernest Jones, Primark and Skipton Building Society.

Prizes are available to youngsters who spot all nine, including storybooks and the chance to win shopping vouchers worth more than £100.

The event is being organised in a partnership between Burnley Leisure, Charter Walk, Burnley Council and Burnley Business Improvement District (BID).

The trail will feature nine different dinosaurs inside a number of town centre businesses which participants will need to discover.

Those taking part in the trail will need to collect an entry form at the Burnley Market office.

The first 500 people to spot all of the dinosaurs will win a dinosaur story book, while other entrants will be placed into a prize draw for the chance to win £150 of Love2Shop vouchers.

Burnley Leisure will stage a launch event on Saturday, July 23, from 11am to 4pm, and the trail will be in place until Saturday, September 3, on every day of the week except Sundays.

Burnley BID project manager, Andrew Dean, said: “The trail promises to provide fun for all the family this summer and offers a cost-effective way to keep children entertained.

“So why not head into the town centre, see if you can find all of the creatures and then enjoy a spot of shopping and some refreshments?”

Janet Roundell, Burnley Leisure activities manager, added: "Through funding secured from the Holiday Activities and food initiative we have been able to adopt four dinosaurs that came to Burnley last month.

“We have been running a competition to name the dinosaurs with local children and we have named our baby Pachycephalosaurus Pip, our infant Triceratops Topsy, our cheeky teenage Velociraptor Vinnie and the king of dinosaurs, the T-Rex, Trevor."
