A body has been found in the search for a missing man.
Although formal identification is yet to take place, officers believe that a body found in the Leeds and Liverpool canal in Burnley is missing man Justin Butterworth.
His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be passed to the coroner.
A spokesman said: “You may remember that we asked for your help in finding Justin Butterworth who has been missing from home in Nelson since 7th June.
“Yesterday (June 28), a body has sadly been found on the Leeds and Liverpool canal in Burnley. Although formal identification has not yet taken place, we believe that this is Justin.
“Our thoughts remain with his family at this incredibly difficult time.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious a and a file will be passed to HM Coroner in due course.
“We would like to say thank you to everyone who shared and supported our appeals.”
