Coronation Street’s Sam Aston and his wife, Briony, have shared photos of their newborn daughter and revealed her name.
The couple, who live in Rossendale, have called their first daughter Daisy Josephine.
They also shared one of their first public family pictures, featuring the new arrival and with their first born child, Sonny.
Speaking to a national celebrity magazine, they revealed the reason behind their name choice.
Briony, who owns Happy Baby Studio in Crawshawbooth, told the publication: “She’s Daisy Josephine. Josephine is a nod to Sam’s brother Joe and my grandad Joe.
“Daisy is also the French name for Marguerite and my mum’s mum is called Margaret, so it was a way to have both grandparents in there.”
Since sharing the update to his 127,000 Instagram followers, Sam. who plays Chesney Brown in the ITV soap, has been flooded with messages and comments.
One person said: “Congratulations to you all.”
“Aww what a lovely picture, Sam,” said another. “So nice to see your family.”
A third said: “The cutest family ever! They look just like their Daddy.”
Daisy was born on 10 May after Briony had a water birth at her Lancashire home; she arrived at 11:59pm and weighing 9lbs 1.5oz.
Speaking about the labour, which lasted just three hours, Sam said: "We're very lucky. It all happened so fast.
"We'd just had some tea and then I put the telly on to watch some football, but then all of a sudden I heard Briony upstairs..."
The new arrival is the couple’s second child and first daughter after giving birth to Sonny in August 2020.
Sam and Briony announced they were pregnant with their daughter last October.
In the adorable announcement snap, Sonny is surrounded by pumpkins with a sign which reads: “We’re adding another pumpkin to our patch. Due spring 2022.”
