A fire engine blocks the road near Bentham following a helicopter crash at mid day

EMERGENCY services are at the scene of an incident where a helicopter has crashed into a field, police have said.
The incident has taken place off Bentham Road near Burton in Lonsdale, on a back road between Ingleton and Bentham, just north of the Forest of Bowland near Lancaster.
The incident happened shortly before midday today, North Yorkshire Police said.
People are strongly urged to avoid the area. Up to two dozen emergency vehicles are said to be at the scene.
