UPDATE
A Greene King spokesperson said: “Our pub and brewery teams are so excited to be celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a variety of events this week.
"One of the ideas we had was for a promotion in 400 of our managed pubs where customers could buy one pint each of Greene King IPA for 6p today – the same price it was in 1952.
"We thought this was a great way to celebrate this remarkable occasion and we’ve been thrilled at the response from customers.
"However, we have some news for everyone, which is that we will now be giving the Jubilee first pint of Greene King IPA away free of charge today, as we now understand it’s not permissible under the licensing act to charge the 6p.
"Just remember to use the keyword ‘1952’ and check whether your local pub is running the offer. Cheers everyone.”

In celebration of the Queen's 70 years on the throne one pub chain is selling pints for a bargain 6p - the same cost of a pint during the Queen’s 1952 coronation.
Greene King will be offering customers 6p pints for one day only across its 408 pubs nationwide on Monday, May 30, including several across Lancashire.
But to get the deal, punters will have to use the secret code word.

Pubgoers will need to say "1952" when ordering a pint at the bar to take advantage of the deal at Greene King and Flaming Grill pubs.
Andrew Gallagher of Greene King Local Pubs said: "We wanted to take our customers back to where it all began in 1952 - a time when Vera Lynn ruled the charts and pints were only 6p.
"Some of our regulars may even remember watching the coronation back in 1952, although they may have been too young to enjoy a pint then."
The deal is only available today, Monday 30 May, so you'll have to head down to your nearest pub today to take advantage of the discount.
