A DRAINAGE company has successfully completed the acquisition of an East Lancashire pipe maker which has a £2 million annual turnover, for an undisclosed sum.

Naylor Drainage has completed the takeover of Burnley's Tuffpipes Ltd, a manufacturer of PVC pipes for the utility industries.

The company has more than £2m in turnover and 11 employees, while Naylor Drainage is a manufacturer of clay and plastic pipes for the construction and infrastructure sectors.

Naylor Drainage has factories in Cawthorne, near Barnsley, and Methil on the east coast of Scotland, and is a subsidiary of Naylor Industries plc, a fourth-generation family business, which has a £70m turnover and some 420 employees.

Naylor Group chief executive, Edward Naylor, said: “Tuffpipes is a great fit with our business and allows us to offer our customers a broader range of PVC as well as Polyethylene ducting products.

"We’re looking forward to working with Neil and Amanda to maximise the potential of the Tuffpipes business.”

For the remainder of this year, Tuffpipes will operate as a standalone subsidiary of Naylor Drainage, with manufacturing continuing on the company’s Burnley on Smallshaw Industrial Estate in Phoenix Way.

Tuffpipes’ Neil and Amanda Tuff will remain with the business and oversee its integration into the Naylor Group.
