A SCIENCE and technology competition taking place next month will see eight Blackburn and Darwen schools going head-to-head.
The primary schools will be taking part in Blackburn Power Game, a light-hearted science and technology competition being held in Blackburn Museum to celebrate National Science and Engineering Week.
Coun Michael Law-Riding, executive member for leisure and culture said: "Each of the schools has entered a team of four children, aged 10 and 11, who have an inquiring mind and a passion for science. On the day of the competition the teams will be set two transport-themed problems to solve.
"As well as solving these puzzles the teams have spent two months working on a different problem - building a rubber band powered car. This too, will be judged on the day."
The schools entering this year's competition are Longshaw Junior School; St Matthew's Primary School; Wensley Fold Primary School; Daisyfield Primary School; St Edward's RC Primary School, Darwen; Sudell Primary School; St Paul's Primary School and Griffin Park Primary School.
The event will be on March 10 and will being sponsored by Capita.
