A ‘TWO-FACED sexual pervert’ who set up cameras to spy on a woman and a teenage girl has been jailed for 40 months.
Mohammed Kara, 61, moved to Leicester after it was found he had set up cameras to observe the pair in private.
Preston Crown Court heard how Kara was living in Blackburn when he set up the cameras.
Prosecutor Stephen Parker said the recordings were then saved on memory sticks so that Kara could access them later.
Upon his move to Leicester – after his offending was discovered – Kara left tapes behind. These were eventually handed to the police and Kara was arrested.
Mr Parker said the two victims spoke of how they felt “violated, sickened, disturbed and angered” when they discovered the recordings, branding Kara’s act as “evil”.
Kara, now of Ethel Road, Leicester, had previously pleaded guilty to seven counts of voyeurism.
In mitigation, Phillip Barnes said Kara felt shame for what he had done which is why he did not admit the offences to the police or probation service.
Mr Barnes said: “Shame is what the defendant feels. Shame is why he could not face when questioned by the police what he has done.
“The shame he feels and self-loathing he has felt are all reflections on the fact that people have learnt who he is.”
In sentencing, Judge Graham Knowles QC said Kara had been a liar for six years.
Judge Knowles said: “You only spoke the truth yourself when you pleaded guilty to the seven counts.
“Guilty not only to installing cameras but as you admitted to doing it for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification.
“The shame you feel is at your exposure as a two-faced sexual pervert.
"Not the decent man you had seemed to be to everybody.”
He was jailed for three years and four months and his name has been added to the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.
A further hearing, listed for May 23, will see whether Kara will be made the subjected of requirements while using the internet due to his offending.
