A CARE worker has been robbed of his wallet by three teenage girls after he left an elderly client.

The 60-year-old worker was pushed to the floor in the attack in the Reynolds Street area of Burnley and his wallet was taken.

All three girls fled down Gainsborough Avenue towards Manchester Road at 8.30pm on Wednesday (January 30).

Police said the worker has been left shaken by the attack which occurred after he had left a clients home.

The wallet had cash and cards in it at the time of the attack.

Coun Francis Ashworth, who represents Rosehill with Burnley Wood, said: "This is actually not a bad area of the ward which is why I am shocked by the attack.

"It's shocking when it happens anywhere but it's worse when it is close to home.

"Sadly this is just what the world is coming to."

Detective Constable Marc Craven said they were in the process of interviewing the victim for further details which includes descriptions of the attackers DC Craven said: "Last night at about 8.30pm in the Reynolds Street area a 60-year-old male from Blackburn working as a care worker was visiting an elderly client.

"He left an address and was approached by a group of three teenage females.

"There was a conversation between them during which he was subject to an attack where he has ended up on the floor and his wallet has been stolen.

"All three females fled the scene down Gainsborough Avenue towards Manchester Road.

"He was pushed to the floor and left shaken.

"His wallet had cash and cards in it.

"We are appealing witnesses and anyone in the area who saw anything to come forward and contact us."
