Preston unveiled Michael Hart and Neal Trotman at Deepdale today, with former Oldham man Trotman going straight into the squad for Saturday's trip to Norwich.
Preston again travel with depleted numbers with other new signing Michael Hart currently injured and the trio of Chris Sedgwick, Youl Mawene and Chris Brown suspended.
There is some good news on the injury front with right back Billy Jones back in contention after playing 60 minutes for the reserves on Wednesday night.
Speaking about his transfer defender Trotman said he sought the advice of Oldham youth team coach Tony Philliskirk before making his move to Deepdale:
"I'm young so I don't really know that much about too many clubs but I spoke to Tony Philliskirk and he said that Preston were a really good club and the manager would make me into a better player."
Trotman has impressed this season with Oldham making 17 appearances at the back. And has been at Oldham for three years after being released by Burnley and now intends to prove them wrong with his performances for Preston.
"My plan is to make Burnley regret releasing me and hopefully I'm doing that."
Other new signing Michael Hart finally completed his move from Aberdeen after protracted negotiations. Hart will have to wait for his debut after carrying an injury which is expected to keep him out for three to four weeks. He commented:
"Hopefully the injury will just be another three weeks. Preston don't want to rush it and want to make sure the injury is right before I come back."
He also thought hard about moving to Preston after seeing their current position in the Championship.
"It was on my mind, but I think their a club who are low down but shouldn't be, they've won four out of five now and hopefully we can get ourselves out of this position."
Hart will inherit the number two jersey formerly held by fellow Scotsman Graham Alexander but believes it will be difficult to emulate his achievements.
"I was told he played over 400 games for the club and if I can follow suit and play half of that I will be happy. He was a great player and it will be difficult to fill his jersey but there is competition with Billy Jones at right back and that's what the manager wants to achieve competition throughout the team."
Assistant manager Kelly also admitted that there may be more new faces at Deepdale before the transfer window closes tonight.
"The manager and the chairman are looking at the possibility of adding one or two players that we have been keeping an eye on for a while. It's constantly changing but we are exploring one or two possibilities."
