A GROUP to offer support and advice to mothers about breastfeeding is being set up in Nelson.
Milk!, a group which promotes breastfeeding, is holding weekly breastfeeding meetings at Giddy Kippers Nursery.
Sessions will start on Thursday, February 7 and there will be weekly meetings from 10am to noon for mothers to discuss any problems they have about breastfeeding.
Meetings are free to attend and are run by trained counsellors and are open to people who have breastfed in the past, who are currently breastfeeding, have had problems breastfeeding or are pregnant and want to know more.
Kirsty Woodhouse, Chairperson of Milk!, said: "We aim to invite every breastfeeding mother to a breast-feeding group, and that breastfeeding group must be accessible and convenient to the mothers and not exclude anyone.
"Everyone will be welcome at our groups.
"With the group at Giddy Kippers, mothers who have toddlers or older children as well as babies, can come to a breastfeeding group and meet other mums who are feeding their children, whilst keeping their older children entertained.
"Everyone can come whether you live locally or not as it's so easy to get to."
The group follows a sister group in Colne which runs on Mondays 9.30am at Newtown Nursery.
