A new drinks parlour dedicated to the South Asian favourite ‘Lassi’ is opening in Lancashire for the first time.
Lassi is a blend of yogurt, water and sometimes fruit and is most commonly served as an appetizer at curry houses.
Sweet, salty and mango lassi varieties will be familiar with diners.
Now, a new ‘Lassi bar’ will aim to serve a range of flavours for those who can’t get enough of the drink.
The new Lala (translated as brother/uncle) Lassi is set to open on Whalley New Road, Brownhill, Blackburn. It is based in the same property as dessert parlour Sugamore.
The menu features flavours such as blueberry, strawberry and pista (Pistachios) lassi as well as the traditional favourites.
A spokesperson for Lala Lassi said: “Lala Lassi will be looking to celebrate some of those traditional Asian drinks and desserts that some of us grew up with.
“We will be doing a wide range of lassi flavours and falooda, authentic desi classic desserts such as gajarella with ice cream and gulab jamun with ice-cream, tea and nibbles. All with a few new twists.
“We will also be serving up big slices of baklava with ice cream as served in places like Etsi and many Turkish places.
“The orders will be for online delivery and collection orders via our website lalalassi.co.uk or through FoodHub, just eat and Uber.”
Lala Lassi is looking to be open for orders at the end of April just ahead of the Eid festival which begins on May 1.
