A COUNCIL is proposing to introduce new legislation that will cut down on the amount of alcohol that can be drunk in public places.
Blackburn with Darwen Council wants to introduce a Public Places Order which would make it an offence to continue to drink if the person has been asked to stop by a police officer.
The council adopted a similar order covering Blackburn Town Centre in 2002 and is now looking to extend it to the remainder of the borough.
Councillors will vote on whether to hold a consultation at the forum meeting in Blackburn tonight.
