BRITPOP legend Liam Gallagher has announced he is to play a surprise gig for around 2,000 people in Blackburn next week.
The former Oasis frontman will take to the stage at King George’s Hall to celebrate his latest collaboration with Darwen trainer designer Gary Aspden, he announced on social media this afternoon.

The gig is set to take place on April 27 and details about how to get tickets for the show will be revealed tomorrow (Tuesday) in the Lancashire Telegraph in print and online from 9am.
In a statement on Instagram, Gary said: “On April 27th, adidas Spezial and Liam Gallagher are celebrating their long-standing relationship with an exclusive intimate concert at Blackburn’s King George’s Hall to announce their forthcoming trainer release.
"All proceeds from the concert will be in aid of NightSafe, with support from local band The Illicits. Tickets are available by raffle which will open at 3pm on Tuesday 19th.”
Liam, who fronted Oasis – one of the biggest British bands of all time – and is now a successful solo artist, is sure to be playing some of his band’s Britpop classics such as Wonderwall, Live Forever and Rock’n’Roll Star, alongside solo tracks such as Everything’s Electric, Wall of Glass and Shockwave.
Last month he played a show for the Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall and also played a show for NHS staff at the O2 Arena thanking them for their efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic.
This summer he has huge shows at Knebworth, a former stomping ground with Oasis, in front of about 100,000 fans, and gigs across the world for the rest of 2022, while his third solo album C’mon You Know is due to be released in May.
Keep your eye on the Lancashire Telegraph website for all the latest and for how to get your hands on tickets to the special event.
