A multi award-winning baker, who has starred in a hit Channel 4 baking series, is to open a cake shop in her East Lancashire home town.
Molly Robbins, owner of online business Molly Makes Cakes, will open her very first cake shop in Bank Street, Rawtenstall.
The 31-year-old describes her business as “a little bit different”, selling both “cakes and cute stuff”.
As well as edible custom cakes, seasonal cupcakes and character cakes, the shop will be selling a range of range of other interesting items
Molly, daughter of actor and comedian Ted Robbins (Den Perry in Phoenix Nights), said: “Even if you’re not interesting in cakes or baking, there will be something fun to look at. It’s a playful and fun shop.
“If you’ve never made a cake before and want to give it a go, I guarantee that we will sell something that will make your bake super impressive and fun.”
As far as the shop’s custom design cakes go, you can be assured that you will order a top-quality and impressive product from Molly Makes Cakes.
Molly starred in four seasons of Channel 4 Extreme Cake Makers, a show where phenomenal bakers across the world describe all the efforts they have to put to transform ordinary-looking cakes into masterpieces.
Molly, who specialises in wildlife designs, has made a life-sized baby elephant, giant chameleon cake and beyond on the show.
In her career, she has also posted snaps of her impressive Shetland pony, a realistic looking pizza-cake, a replica of Thanos’ glove from Avengers: Infinity War and more.
You don’t need to order a life-size and extravagant cake either, as Molly will be selling a range of made to order customisable, simple and affordable cakes, at her new shop.
She said “The show has been a really big deal for me – it’s been really fun to do.
“A lot of my customers are Rossendale and Lancashire-based but also gets some from the other end of the country, which I am sure is to do with the TV show.”
Molly also has a lot of awards under her belt, winning Cake Masters' People’s Choice award and several gold and silver awards at Cake International, which is described as “the world’s biggest cake decorating competition".
One of her ‘gold winning’ designs, which took three days to make, is of an orangutan sat on the shell of a tortoise while holding an open banana.
Molly is excited to bring her online business, which she started around 12 years ago, to the physical world.
She said: “It’s going to be great to have a physical presence in Rossendale Valley as I have been online and working from an industrial unit for such a long time.
“I love Bank Street as well, I live just around the corner and think it has a little bit of everything."
Molly plans to open around mid-June but said the former Manning’s Bakery site needs a lot of work and renovations beforehand.
She said: “It needs a complete renovation – not one wall is going to be original.
“However, when we can open it’s going to be great and I am massively looking forward to it.
“It’s the final stage for the business and I hope to be there for a long time and become a permanent fixture in Rossendale.”
