A YOUTH-led project that aims to empowers pupils has announced its new artist-in-residence.

Lancashire based painter Sana Maulvi will spend the next few months working with the ‘Let’s Be Foundation’, a social initiative based at The Hollins in Accrington.

Sana, who graduated with a first-class fine art degree from Lancaster University, has a studio at Prism Contemporary in Blackburn.

Sana will be spending the next few months working alongside volunteers from the Foundation and elderly residents to co-produce a community arts exhibition that captures participant’s stories, experiences, hopes and aspirations.

The project is supported by Hyndburn and Ribble Valley CVS.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Through her work Sana explores the use of found objects and shapes in her work to create art which "transcends emotions far deeper than realistic figurative elements".

Sana was one of the commissioned artists involved in the ground-breaking community arts programme – ‘Kick Down the Barriers’.  She has also delivered community workshops at the ‘Festival of Making’,  and 'Paint the Town' 2021, and worked alongside artist Cath Ford on the Tuck-Tuck project.
