Whilst I agree we have to move with the times, in my opinion change is not always for the best.
Banks are closing their branches on a weekly basis to encourage online banking, high street shops are disappearing at an alarming rate due to online shopping and access to cash will soon be a memory.
Cash is a crucial part of many people’s lives and with the cost of living continually rising it can help them to budget effectively. Failure to access cash could leave many vulnerable people at crisis point and have a devastating knock-on effect on local high streets.
At least with cash you always know how much money you have at any given time.
Not everyone chooses to bank or shop online as many people don't feel safe because they don’t trust the internet with all the fraud that goes on and in addition to that there are still an awful lot of people who don’t have access to the internet like the elderly.
Online shopping and banking was forced on us during lockdown as banks and shops remained closed but now that everything is operating normally it is imperative that banks remain open and cash is readily available for customers who choose to use it.
