A man has suffered a serious leg injury and a major road has been closed due to an oil spillage following a crash.

Station Road in Bamber Bridge between the junction for the A6 and Church Road/Havelock Road is closed.

This is due to an oil spillage following a crash between two cars which happened around 11.45am on Tuesday.

Motorists are being asked to avoid the area where possible until it is re-opened.

A police spokesperson said: "Please be aware from Station Road, Bamber Bridge between the junction of the A6 and Church Road/Havelock Road is closed due to an oil spillage following a road traffic collision.

"The driver of one of the vehicles, a man in his 70s, has suffered a serious leg injury.

"Please avoid the area where possible and we will update once the road has been re-opened."
