A MAN has been fined after being caught carrying a class A drug.

Scott Carslaw, of Camden Street, Nelson, was caught carrying heroin when searched by Lancashire Constabulary in November.

The 45-year-old, who was present at the hearing, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled class A drug at Blackburn Magistrates' Court and this was taken into account when sentencing.

Carslaw was fined a total of £159 to be paid in weekly £5 instalments commencing March 7.

He was also forced to give up the heroin, which has now been destroyed.
