A PEDESTRIAN who was seriously injured as she crossed the road near her home has died after almost three weeks in hospital.
Joyce Wilding, 81, was struck by a white Renault Kangoo van in Shakespeare Avenue, Great Harwood, on Monday, January 7.
After the accident Mrs Wilding was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital and her condition was described as serious but stable.
But she became critical after suffering a heart attack and died in hospital on Sunday, police said.
At the time of the crash a 38-year-old man from the town was been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving. But police will now look at altering the charge following Mrs Wilding's death.
Police said Mrs Wilding, of Blackburn Road, was crossing Shakespeare Avenue at 5.40pm when she was struck.
Police believe the van had been turning into Shakespeare Avenue from Blackburn Road when the accident happened.
