Martin Waterson, the organist at St. John's Church, has explained to the Parochial Church Council the problems being experienced with the Church organ are due to its age and the fact that replacement parts ar no longer available.
The expected life of electronic organs of this type is around 20 years.
The Church organ is a very important part of life at St. John's as they have a very active choir which is present every Sunday, together with other events such as the Cantata and Carol Services which require a good, fully functioning instrument.
Estimates are to be obtained for a suitable replacement and future meetings of the Parochial Church Council will consider how to raise the necessary funds.
