A MAN went round to smooth things over with his partner - after drinking 25 pints of lager.
Yvonne Catlow refused to let Anthony Pepper into her house and he responded by putting his foot through her front door.
Pepper, of Lyndhurst Road, Burnley, pleaded guilty to criminal damage.
He was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report by Hyndburn magistrates.
Philippa White, prosecuting, said Miss Catlow had told Pepper their eight-month relationship was over and the day after he collected his belongings from her home in Clarendon Street, Accrington, and left.
At 6.30pm she received a phone call from him and he was abusive. Three hours later he turned up on the doorstep.
"She locked the door on him and he began to shout and scream as he kicked at the door which eventually broke," said Mrs White.
Pepper told police he had spent the day at a friend's house where he had drunk 25 pints. He had gone round with the intention of reconciliation.
Ben Leech, defending, said the couple had effectively been living together for several months and there had been previous occasions when they had argued and things had become "fraught".
"He accepts that having left the house in the morning he went to a friend's where he started drinking," said Mr Leech.
He hoped that having left her alone he would be able to go round later in the day and smooth things over, talk things through.
"Because he had consumed alcohol she didn't want to talk to him."
