Meet the Richardsons is back for a third series – and it kicks off tonight (3 March)
Lancaster-born Jon Richardson will star alongside his wife, Lucy Beaumont, in the comedy series which offers a fictional window into the funny and frustrated marriage of the real-life couple.
Nelson producer, Jed Mercurio (Line of Duty, Bodyguard) is also set to make a cameo in the series which airs on channel Dave.
Meet the Richardsons sees stand-up comedians Jon and Lucy play exaggerated versions of themselves, surrounded by their celebrity friends and neighbours.
In this series, they move into a new neighbourhood, Lucy’s career takes off and Jon struggles to cope with life after leaving his beloved garden pub behind in the upper Calder Valley.
While Lucy is desperate to make the right impression with the new neighbours, Jon would much rather keep a low profile.
Jon is excited about a big opportunity to take his career in a new direction, Lucy’s new agent has big plans to push her career on to another level, and they discover that their TV show is under threat when they hear that another celebrity comedy couple are planning a copycat show.
Speaking about the new series, Jon said: "We still can't believe we got away with the second series.
"We filmed it through lockdown but it looked just like a normal series, even though we took precautions.
"So the third series was a breeze; we could go anywhere and do anything. The gloves were off. We've got the new house, new location, new people and it’s re-energised it."
Bernie Clifton, Johnny Vegas, Matt Forde and Jessica Knappett will return and a host of new elebrity guests will also feature.
David and Georgia Tennant, Russell Kane, Simon Greenall, Melinda Messenger, Joel Dommett, Kerry Katona, Gabby Logan, Beverley Callard, Jed Mercurio, Gogglebox’s Steph and Dom and Pussycat Doll Kimberley Wyatt, will make an appearance in series three.
Among those, Jon said was most excited about seeing former Doctor Who star, David Tennant, and his wife on the show.
He said: “Getting the Tennants was huge for us. We've never had a Pussycat Doll before. But also it wouldn't be Meet The Richardsons if we didn't have Bernie Clifton, or Emma and Damion back.
“Mark Williams, the snooker player, tweeted that he enjoyed the series so I'm lobbying for a world snooker championship storyline for the next series.”
Nelson-born Line of Duty creator, Jed Mercurio, once tweeted Jon and said he enjoyed the show.
He will make a cameo appearance and play a caricature of himself for this series.
Jon said: “Jed Mercurio gets it. My performance as a balding slightly podgy middle aged failing comic is so believable that people forget I’m actually an athlete in his prime.
“Jed Mercurio tweeted he liked the show so we instantly messaged him. Then Georgia Tennant, who is a darling, liked a couple of my tweets and said she was a fan. If anyone shows any interest, we write something for them.”
Meet the Richardsons returns on Thursday 3rd March at 9pm on Dave.
