The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for some parts of the UK today (24 February) and warned Storm Gladys could be just around the corner.
This warning comes just days after storms Dudley, Eunice and Franklin hit in the same week and the country was battered with strong winds and rain.
A warning for snow and lightning is in place today (24 February), which covers some northern parts of Britain.
Thankfully, Lancashire isn’t currently covered by the warning but keep an eye on the weather to see if this changes.
However, the county won’t escape the brunt of the bad weather entirely with heavy snow forecast in some parts of the region.
East Lancashire towns will face the brunt of the wintry conditions with coastal towns, such as Blackpool, set to remain overcast and rainy.
Here is the outlook for Blackburn with Darwen:
Today, the Met Office has forecast sleet showers which will change to heavy snow by late morning.
The snow is expected to hit at around 10am – but this may turn to sleet at 11 am.
A mixture of snow, sleet and rain showers will follow up until midnight.
It’s expected to be chilly and temperatures may struggle to rise above 5°C all day – although it is expected to feel more like – 2 °C for the majority of the day.
It’s also set to be a gusty day with winds reaching speeds of 37mph, peaking at 3pm.
Friday’s (25 February) weather is set to be much clearer with sunny spells expected all day until 6pm, when the cloud will roll in.
Temperatures expected to reach highs of 7 °C.
The weekend is set to be overcast with the occasional sunny intervals; temperatures will reach highs of 9°C on Saturday.
