A MAN who attacked his pregnant partner was said to have knelt on her stomach, hit and abused her, a court was told.
Burnley magistrates heard how James Ward, 24, subjected seven-months pregnant Victoria Britton to a prolonged, very frightening and painful beating, last Decem-ber 27.
Ward, of Penistone Street, Burnley, said to have set about the victim before during their year-long relationship, admitted assault. He claimed he and Miss Britton had had a physical confrontation, but that was the extent of it.
A trial will be held over the facts.
The defendant was bailed until January 30.
