The Stand and Deliver singer would have performed an array of hits at King George's Hall this weekend but has had to postpone the entirety of the tour - due to start in Newcastle tonight (February 22) - following health concerns.

In a statement, he said: "It is with regret we have to inform you that the 'Antics Tour' is now postponed and will be rescheduled to later in the year.

"Unfortunately Adam has taken ill, suffering with fatigue and is physically unable to perform.

"On medical advice given he needs complete rest for the immediate future.

"His summer 'Let's Rock' headline appearances will continue and we will announce as soon as possible the rescheduled dates for the 'Antics Tour'.

"All tickets bought for the 'Antics Tour' will be valid for the new dates."

Adam Ant was formerly the frontman of Adam and the Ants, who, after forming in 1977, shot to fame in 1981 - spending nine weeks at number one with smash hits Stand and Deliver and Prince Charming as well as winning a BRIT Award for Best Album with Kings of the Wild Frontier.

Also in 1981, they wont a Grammy for Best New Artist.
