A new Lidl store has opened in an East Lancashire town.
Lidl opened its newest supermarket on Wyre Street, in Padiham for the first time on Thursday.
Part of the company’s ongoing £1.3billion expansion and regeneration plans across Great Britain for 2021 and 2022, the store will create around 40 new jobs for the local community.
The new supermarket has a sales area of 1,256m² and features facilities including an in-store bakery, customer toilets and ample parking for both cars and bicycles.
Lidl GB’s Regional Head of Property, Nick Harvey, commented: “It is fantastic that we are able to open our doors and welcome everyone into our new store in Padiham.
"We have received overwhelming support from local residents, and we would like to thank everyone who has played a part in delivering this new store.
"We now look forward to serving our multi-award winning products to the local community.”
It is believed people were queueing for the doors to open on Thursday morning, with some keen bargain hunters even trying to gain entry on Wednesday night, only to be turned away and told to return the following day.
During the first week of opening customers will be able to find exclusive deals and offers on selected products, including an LED Bike Light Set for £6.99, a Go Kart for £24.99 and a Plum Deimos Climbing Dome for £39.99 – all perfect things to put a spring in someone’s step.
The store opening times will be between 8am - 10pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am – 4pm on Sunday.
