A WOMAN who attacked two women, including her own mother, was slammed by magistrates who said her conduct was beyond belief.

The Burnley bench had been told how Stacey Thompson, 26, had been on an 18-month conditional discharge for assaulting her mother when she turned up at Orlaith Rowan's home and assaulted her.

Thompson, who claimed Miss Rowan had been making untrue allegations about her, punched the victim repeatedly, leaving her with a bust nose, a large lump to the side of her forehead and redness and swelling to her eyes and cheeks.

Thompson, of Padiham Road, Burnley, admitted assault in breach of the conditional discharge.

Sentencing, bench chairman James McGowan told Thompson it was beyond belief someone would attack their mother. She was given 18 months community order with supervision and must pay £150 compensation.

Andrew Robinson, prosecuting, told the court the defendant turned up at Miss Rowan's home about 8.15pm.

Thompson went round to the back of the property and was allowed in. After the attack, Thompson was interviewed and made very limited admissions about what she had done.

Mr Robinson said Thompson attacked her mother when the victim was the licencee of the Derby Arms, Burnley.

Dylan Bradshaw, defending, said Thompson had reacted inappropriately to things that people said when she had been drinking.
