RAMSBOTTOM-based MP David Chaytor has won support for Westminster debate on free bus travel for young people.
Pensioners are looking forward to subsidised bus travel being extended to cover wider areas of the country from this April.
And the Bury North MP, who lives in Summmerseat, has raised the issue of concessions for students in Parliament with leader of the Commons Harriet Harman.
Mr Chaytor said in the House of Commons: "Will my right honourable friend find time for a debate on free bus travel for young people?
"In the context of the extension of the education participation age, and the increasing number of young people who will need to travel as a result, does she agree that we need to review the very variable arrangements for concessionary travel that apply around the country?"
Ms Harman said the issue was worth considering.
She said: "I will raise my honourable friend's point with the Secretary of State for Transport."
