NEW homes and apartments will replace two streets of terraced houses if Pendle councillors approve a planning application.

Miller Homes has submitted an application to build 10 detached houses and a six-storey apartment block on land between Holden Road and King Street, in Brierfield.

Planning officers look set to approve the plans providing the developers agree to contribute towards traffic calming measures in the interests of safety.

Two streets of terraced houses and two commercial properties fronting Clitheroe Road would need to be demolished before the new homes could be built.

The houses, which will have pitched roofs, will be made from natural reclaimed stone wherever possible.

The roofs on the apartments will be made of slate to allow the new and old elements to integrate.

Pendle Council recently approved plans to build 99 homes on the site of Lob Lane Mill, a large grade II listed building which sits to the west of this development.

The matter will go before the Brierfield and Reedley Committee on Tuesday, January 29, at 7pm in Brierfield Town Hall.
