A NEW website where residents can find help and advice about flooding has been launched.
The Ribble Valley Council website contains links to Environment Agency floodplain maps, which give an overview of local rivers and watercourses, and a series of hotline numbers to report a flood or receive up-to-date information.
It also offers advice on how to prepare for a flood and protect properties from the worst effects of flooding, make insurance claims and deal with contractors, and offers specific advice for landowners.
Ribble Valley's environmental health manager, James Russell, said: "Householders and occupiers of commercial premises in areas prone to flooding are advised to take adequate advice and precautions.
"They are also reminded that in the event of a flood, the council is not responsible and is not in the position to issue or supply large quantities of sandbags, which are obtainable at little cost from most local builders merchants.
"We want residents to be aware of the information on our web site, which offers lots of practical advice and support."
The web page is available at www.ribblevalley.gov.uk.
