POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a head-on collision in Whalley.
Frank Cornwall, 76, was driving his Honda FRV on Accrington Road towards Clitheroe when he stopped at the traffic lights at the Spring Wood picnic site.
When he made to turn right, he collided head-on into a Suzuki 4x4 driven by a 46-year-old Edgworth man.
Mr Cornwall was cut out of his vehicle by firefighters as a precaution, due to a recent spinal injury. He suffered chest and back injuries and was taken by ambulance to hospital to be checked over.
The other driver was treated for minor injuries.
A Czech man died in a smash near the same spot at the weekend which also saw two others injured, and a 79-year-old woman from Barrow died on January 2.
Witnesses to the latest incident, at 7pm on Tuesday, should call Sgt Derek Brownless on 01254 353211.
