A DARWEN firefighter has clocked off for the last time after 30 years' service.
Crew manager Jim Earnshaw, 53, worked his last shift after 15 years at Darwen fire station and a further 14 previously spent at Blackburn.
Mr Earnshaw, who now intends to do volunteer work for the St John Ambualance teaching first aid, said: "You come to believe that after 30-years you have done your time but I will miss it.
"The biggest thing I will miss is the people I have worked with.
"The things that stand out from the last 30-years and what you remember are not always things you want to, especially if someone has lost their life.
"There are the times, though, when you've pulled people out of buildings and they will always stick in the mind as well."
He officially retires tomorrow.
