A pub popular with Blackburn Rovers fans re-opened at the weekend after a £200k makeover.

The Lancashire Telegraph revealed last month that the Stonegate Group's Craft Union Pub Company had taken over the Brown Cow on Livesey Branch Road.

Visitors on Saturday will have been impressed with the new-look of the pub after the investment.

The new landlords are John and Tracy Meadows and they will be familiar with pub-goers around East Lancashire.

John said: "We are really excited about getting into the Brown Cow and it was great to get open again on Saturday.

"It has always been a great little pub with Rovers fans, especially on matchdays.

"There are quite a lot of good pubs in the area with the Fox and Hounds and then the Lord Raglan which means that there are a good bunch in the area.

"There are quite a few places that people can go now.

"Craft Union Pub Company have spent a lot of money on the pub and it looks great.

"Visitors can expect a warm welcome in a great community pub with live sports, live acts, discos, quizzes and much much more.

"We used to run the Hare and Hounds at Lammack and were there for four or five years.

"Tracy also used to be at the Red Lion at Whitebirk and then also at the Quarrymans for a few years.

"We have been running a few pubs in the area and we want to have a community feel about the Brown Cow and get a bit of a buzz about the place."

John, 54, is a Blackburn Rovers supporter and hopes with Tony Mowbray's side being on a high more fans can visit the Brown Cow before matches.

He said: "It is great to see them up there challenging. We are going to have a good atmosphere for the Notts Forest game in mid-week."
