A DRIVER died after the van he was in crashed into a bus shelter.
The man, believed to be aged 63, was in a white Transit van going towards the motorway in Haslingden Road, Blackburn, when the accident happened at 2.30pm today.
He was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital suffering from serious injuries.
The motorist was believed to be working in the area and lived in Cheshire. He died an hour later.
Police said they were unable to release further details about him at this stage as he had not been formally identified and his family had not been informed.
Accident investigators closed the road for about two hours.
It is not known yet what caused the crash.
A police spokesman said: "We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the van being driven away from Blackburn town centre to come forward."
