Supermarket giant Sainsbury's has announced they will be adding a new feature to its popular Nectar Card scheme.
The change is set to impact over 18 million shoppers across the country and not just Sainsburys shoppers.
The Nectar Card can be used in UK stores including Argos, Habitat, VUE cinemas, eBay as well as Sainsbury's.
It will see a new charitable feature added to the rewards scheme, giving cardholders the chance to donate points to good causes.
Sainsbury's confirmed that the launch of the Nectar Donate element will work with charities including Alzheimer's Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support.
The Nectar points will be converted into funding for the chosen organisation without any fees attached.
Minimum donation is £1 which is equivalent to 200 points.
Nectar Donate was created in partnership with Crowdfunder and can be used at any time with the card.
Customers will need to create a Crowdfunder account and link their Nectar account in order to be able to donate the charitable points.
Nectar head of loyalty and CRM Alex Naisby said: “We’re proud to have teamed up with Crowdfunder to launch Nectar Donate, a new and simple way for customers to support the charities and causes they really care about with their Nectar points."
