A village in Lancashire has been named as one of the top 12 coolest postcodes to live in. 

Aughton (L39), in West Lancashire near Ormskirk, has made the list and is a place to go for serious foodies, according to The Times. 

After two years of being cramped in city centres with little outdoor space, many people, particularly Millenials, are swapping city life for the countryside and coastal areas.

Also featured on the list was Ancoats in Manchester (M4), Hockley in Nottingham (NG1) and seaside town Mumbles in Swansea (SA3).

What is there to do in Aughton, Lancashire? 

Aughton has a huge variety of amazing restaurants, including Mark Birchall's two-Michelin-starred restaurant Moor Hall.  

It was voted best in Britain for the second year running at the National Restaurant awards and has a huge waiting list, so it's best to book well in advance.

Aughton has won county awards for its well-kept village and has plenty of shops, schools and churches. 

St Michael's Parish Church is an architectural highlight with a large spire and octagonal upper storey. 

The old market town of Clitheroe is great for food too with lunch at Freemasons at Wiswell or Northcote for a five-course meal by celebrity chef Lisa Goodwin-Allen.

Although a largely residential and rural place, Aughton has excellent transport links, perfect for a day out or weekend away. 

Served by two train stations, Aughton Park and Town Green, it is very easy to get into Liverpool or Ormskirk.
