Two teachers who grew up in Blackburn climbed to the Mount Everest base camp ahead of Christmas.
Moaz Siddiqui and Yasmeen Bhamji who went to school in Blackburn but now work in Abu Dhabi, arrived at Everest base camp on December 23 during an eight-day trip.
The base camps are campsites at the base of Mount Everest that are used by climbers during their ascent and descent but they are also visited by hikers.
Moaz, 33 studied at Pleckgate High School and is teaching business studies in Abu Dhabi. Yasmeen, 33 studied at Witton Park High school and is now teaching English.
They said: “It was hardest experience ever in temperatures from -2 to -30 degrees but the scenery of the Himalayas was astounding and life-changing.”
