This week’s most enjoyed beer was a luscious, inherently boozy, Double IPA from the innovative and ever-growing Warrington brewer, Twisted Wheel Brewing Company.

The Double IPA is basically an IPA style with double the number of hops, plus a more generous amount of malt to balance this juicy offering. The style is rich in character. It also comes with a hefty helping of alcoholic content, ranging from about 7-10% ABV.

Their Supersonic Rocket Ship, Talus DIPA (8.5%) was a single hop beer brewed with a recently introduced hop from the Yakima Valley, north west USA. Cloudy golden in appearance with a fluffy white head. It had a bold aroma of pink grapefruit, pine and tropical fruit. Wow, the pleasant, strong bouquet really leapt out when I cracked open the can. More juicy pink grapefruit, floral, piney and rich, succulent tropical fruit flavours to enjoy, from the heaps of Talus hops used in the brewing process.

There were intensely bittersweet, semi-dry, fruity and malty notes identified in the finish. A truly rich, deep-flavoured, thirst-quenching delight.
