Katya Jones arrived in Blackburn at the weekend for her first pantomime performance in Blackburn.

The Strictly Come Dancing professional plays the evil witch in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at King George’s Hall.

The 32-year-old made her way to Blackburn after the Strictly Come Dancing final on Saturday night (18 December) ready for her first on-stage performance on Sunday.

Taking to her social media account, Katya said says she “got a lot of booing” during her first two performances after taking to the stage without having any rehearsals.

However, as the pantomime villain, this can only be a good thing.

Posting to her Instagram account, Katya said: “What a glorious morning in Blackburn.

“Yes, I am here in Blackburn and it’s my first panto day. I’ve got two shows and I am on my way to the theatre for my first rehearsal… first ever. I am not even doing a full rehearsal just my dance scene.

“But wish me luck and I look forward to seeing you later.”

After her very first show, Katya also posted an update about how it went – mentioning that she got a lot of boos during the process.

She said: “First show went well. There were no disasters. I got a lot of booing going on which is always a good thing because I am playing the baddie.

“Ready for the second one I am still going over my script so I am constantly on top of it. I absolutely loved it though

“So much fun. I can’t wait for the next 10 days. Come and see us in Blackburn.”

Ms Jones also had some positive things to say about Rachel Jones, who is covering and guiding her through the shows.

Speaking about Rachel, Katya thanked her for “saving her life” and helping with some on-stage blunders.

She said: “Thank you so much for guiding me through the show today. Literally saved my life a few times today.

“I was out of my costume at one point when she walked in and told me to put the dress back on!

“I also literally had to admit on stage that I can’t remember my next line and ask Rachel to shout it to me from back stage.

“To be fair the audience loved it.”

Speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph earlier this year, Katya said she is looking forward to playing such a dark character.

She said: “I adore this tradition (the pantomime). I feel like I really get it. I played a positive character before as the good witch.

“This year I play the evil witch – please do boo as much as you can. I love panto and everything it stands for. We know the festive season is with us when panto starts.”

Katya Jones will be playing the role of the wicked queen in Snow White and the Seven Dwarf from now until 31 December.

If you want to see her on stage, tickets prices range from £11- £19 and some are still available via bwdvenues.com.
