Weather forecasters say snow, rain and cold temperatures could hit parts of the UK towards the end of December.
While the chance of a white Christmas is unlikely, forecasters say the latter half of December is set to be unsettled with a chance of snowfall and wintry conditions.
Forecasters at netweather.tv say the unsettled conditions will start on 27th December with the snowy conditions predicted towards the start of the new year.
They said: “[Between 27 December-2 January) It looks set to remain dry and quite cold for most of the time, with widespread overnight frost and fog. It may turn less settled towards the end of the period, and this is when snowfall is most likely for many parts of the UK.”
The Met Office also predict possible snowfall in their long-range forecast adding that unsettled and windier weather could also be on the cards.
They said: “Towards the middle of the period, there is an increasing chance of more unsettled and windier weather affecting the UK, with rain, and perhaps snow, possible for some places.
“Temperatures will generally be near to below normal, perhaps rather cold in the south, feeling chilly where any fog persists, and locally mild in the north and northwest.”
