An MP has been speaking to business owners in a push for people to shop local in the lead up to Christmas.

Antony Higginbotham said he is ‘shining a light’ on local businesses in Padiham after doing the same in Burnley the week before.

In a video on his Facebook page, the MP for Burnley said: “Padiham is one of the jewels in our crown.

“And here in the town centre, you can see it. It’s regenerated, reinvigorated, rejuvenated and we have got such a fantastic variety of shops and retailers and service providers.

“I want to shine a light on everything they do so that in the run up to Christmas your first thought is how you can get out there and support them.”

The MP spoke to business owners across the town centre from Rawes Grazing, SoFloral, the Little Card Shop, Party Glitz, Picture House and John Conlan Butchers.

Business owner of SoFloral, Sue said: “It’s really important for small business that local communities support us so we can stay on the high street.”

While John Conlan who runs the butchers said: “I’ve been here for over 30 years in Padiham and I think there’s no finer place.”

Last weekend, the MP visited Burnley and spoke with the owners of Jay Care Stairlift and Mobility, Complete Home Furniture Store, Mobile Masters and Vicky Leigh Photography.
