A busy bypass was closed in the early hours of Saturday morning due to a 'police incident'.
Police closed the A56 in both directions between the A680 and the A681 near Haslingden.
Emergency services including Highways were deployed to the incident to assist with traffic management.
A spokesperson for Highways said at around 1am: "Lancashire please be aware the A56 is currently closed in both directions between the A680 and the A681 near Haslingden due to a police incident.
"We have crews deployed to assist with traffic management.
"Please approach with caution. Further details to follow."

Shortly before 2am, Highways announced the 'incident' had been resolved and the road had been fully re-opened.
The spokesperson added: "The incident has been resolved and the road has fully reopened in both directions.
"Traffic is flowing freely and residual delays have cleared.
"Thank you for your patience."
