Two masked men armed with hammers stormed a Spar shop and threatened two members of staff.
The men stole cash and cigarettes before leaving the shop, with police believing they may have left the area in a blue vehicle.
The robbery happened at the Spar shop on Wood Lane in Heskin near Chorley at around 9pm on Wednesday.
Both offenders are white, in their early 20s, of medium build and were wearing balaclavas and dark clothing.
They spoke with northern accents.
DC Philip Hampson from Chorley CID said: “This is a shocking incident which must have been terrifying for the victims who were threatened by these men in their place of work.
“Thankfully, they were not physically hurt during the robbery but have been left understandably extremely shocked and shaken.
“These individuals were prepared to use weapons in order to steal and we are following a number of lines of enquiry in order to identify them.
“I would appeal to anyone who think they may know who the people in the CCTV images are or who may have been in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious, in particular a blue vehicle, to contact us.
“I would especially appeal to anyone who has dash cam or CCTV footage to get in touch.”
