Once again Carole and Alan Hindle are of to Gambia, this time they would like to take football boots with them. They would be very grateful for any donations of old pairs of boots, if you have any, please contact me at simon.ocarroll@btinternet.com Below is an article on their last trip to Gambia.

June 2006 Sanyang Academy Allan and Carol Hindle have been to Gambia about ten times now, on the first few visits they provided The Guntur Lower Basic School with classroom, musical and sports equipment. During a visit they met a young man called Hamed, he is 24 yrs old and is a goal keeper in the senior team, he also helps to run the Sanyang Academy along with other volunteers who's aim it is to teach young kids to play and enjoy football. Allan and Carol have provided Kits, goalkeeper's gloves, pumps and trainers, drinking bottles and even flags for running the lines, thanks to donations from Rishton Utd and Blackburn Rovers FC.

When Allan and Carol returned home they had received a letter from Hamed telling them that by a majority vote the members of the academy wanted to change the name of the academy to Sanyang Rishton Academy as a thank you for what they had done.

In March this year Carol came and gave some t-shirts to Rishton United U8's red, these t-shirts were made by the boys and girls in Gambia to thank Rishton United for all their help and support. The shirts were very expensive to make and the children had to miss a meal to pay for the costs.

Most of the thanks must be given to Allan and Carol, who have given up so much time to help these children out, the Children even said they now feel like a proper football team.
