A group of mums and daughters have been arrested after they were caught shoplifting in a town centre.
The group, believed to be two adults with their daughters, aged 12 and 16, were reported to police after a number of high value thefts took place at stores in Leyland.
On Thursday, officers attended and quickly located the women and children and arrested them on suspicion of theft.
The children's welfare is now being assessed with safeguarding procedures put in place.
A spokesperson for the police said on Wednesday evening: "Tonight the Leyland neighbourhood team responded to calls from stores in Leyland of a group of females committing high value thefts from their premises.
"Quick work and an eagle eye from PCSO's Danielle and Tony, and the female suspects (mothers and their daughters aged 12 and 16) were located and arrested by PC Walker and are now in custody.
"Safeguarding of the children is being addressed.
"We know Leyland is a nice place for a family day out, but this isn’t what I’d recommend."
