A TRADE exhibition will be showing off the best of the North West's food at Ewood Park.

The Buy Local 2008 exhbi-ibition on January 29 will show off food ranging from locally-made black pudding to ewe's milk ice cream and locally-bottled mineral water.

Head chef of Michelin-starred Northcote Manor restaurant, Nigel Haworth, will bve giving cookery demonstrations by using the ingredients on show.

He said: "Food made with local ingredients has a sort of magic that mass produced food can't quite match. Events like Buy Local 2008 are absolutely vital to ensure that, wherever possible, we all use local produce to treat guests to culinary delights that represent our region.

"Buy Local will be help ing customers and regional suppliers to come together, which ultimately reduces food miles and helps to sustain the environment."

Buy Local 2008 has been part-financed by the county council's Made in Lanca-shire project and by the University of Central Lancashire's EU-funded North West Centre for Waste Management programme.

Admission is free of charge, although the organisers are asking visitors to register in advance via the event website, which is found at www.buy-local.org.uk.
